Once upon a time ...
Once we lived on trees so they say. Of course this is nonsense, because scientifically speaking, although these were our ancestors, but no people. Yet the question remains, what makes us different from those now eigendlich or connects with you. For back to the trees (as defined in: simple and worry-free life) and forward at all costs (in terms of technological progress) are obviously two souls residing in the breast of our species.
The scientific answer to this question are based primarily on the physical characteristics of brain mass and walking upright. The ability to use technology and language is probably gone as far as possible since it is clear that such tools can be used quite chimpanzees and also discuss if given reasonable showing how and why.
Was die Frage nach der Gesellschaftsform angeht, scheint mir der (durchaus gängige) Blick auf unsere humanoiden Vettern aus dem Tierreich einigermaßen gerechtfertigt. Damit ließe sich ein (natürlich rein prosaisches) Bild vom Garten Eden zeichenen, das etwas wie folgt aussieht:
Wir leben auf Bäumen und dort von der Hand in den Mund. Blätter, Früchte, Wurzeln, Insekten, vielleicht mal einen Nager, Eier und alles was sich sonst noch ohne großen Aufwand ergattern läßt, steht auf unserem Speiseplan. Es gibt einzelne von uns, die schon mal ein Stöckchen oder einen Stein benutzt haben um an etwas besonders lekkeres oder interessantes to come. But most are too lazy or too stupid to, really important life is not.
We sleep in nests, which we can fashion ourselves when we are tired. How long, how often and with or without a roof again depends on skill, motivation and life circumstances.
There is a rudimentary language of gestures and general sounds, with which we communicate, especially our mood. These range from self-sacrifice, charity, compassion, equanimity over to narrow-mindedness, selfishness and meanness. In this area, so had the entire spectrum available.
We live in clans, but there are also loners and smaller, unherziehende Rotten (mostly teenagers). Division of labor, there are clan-normal level, at least as far as the rearing. Otherwise, there are still those who want to determine and those who submit. But for most people this is totally indifferent.
A life in the woods is a life without a horizon. No clear line to the end of the world suggesting the opposite: The known life is unlimited in every direction possible. And if not, then you might stay here just now. The forest is not something it's worth the deal, including?
The decision ...
There is something going on. Of course you can not even talk about it, but all are somehow worried. Moreover, everywhere where you go as even some. Food is scarce. More and more often you meet some who claim to have seen the forest.
Now all that follows seems to us, from today's perspective, somehow known to occur. There will be the researchers who dare out of the woods. There will be the pioneers who try to live in the desert. The stragglers will be to pull in the steppe, because it worked for others. What is important is that all this happens in the history of our species for the first time. And maybe even more significant is that those left behind to become extinct.
TweakPC because the climate to a warm period was the same as today, just begins. The selective pressure was enormous. Only a certain kind of intelligence and the selective use of "technology" or "know how" our ancestors were able to survive. This always had the advantage of individuals in which the larger präfontalen cortex (specific part of the brain) had.
species that adapted themselves to changing environmental conditions had already given. It was either adjustment in behavior, in a previously uninhabited Habitat to penetrate (so to speak, an organizational alignment) or a very slow physical process of adjustment, which was usually associated with a specialization (evolutionary adaptation). But a species that produces a de-specialization by their conduct physical change is so far unique. Thus, this behavior can be seen as a cornerstone of humanity.
